Swan Creek Candle Co. Cast Iron and Gourmet Enamelware Collections Review

Swan Creek Candle Co. Cast Iron and Gourmet Enamelware Collections Review

Swan Creek Candle is a division of Ambrosia, Inc., an Ohio corporation that has been selling wholesale to the gift industry since 1978. It is owned and operated by members of the founding family, and located in a 30,000 square foot factory in Northwest Ohio. You may visit our outlet stores; the original located in the front area of the factory building in Swanton, OH, our second outlet store in Historic Downtown Dundee, MI, or our outlet stores in Vermilion, OH, Toledo, OH, Perry, MI, Jackson, MI, and Leesburg, FL.

These Candles Are Made From American Soybean Wax

Other Benefits of American Soybean WaxTM include:

Clean Burning - No Soot!

Completely Natural
Environmentally Friendly
Longer Burn Times
Animal Free

Our American Soybean WaxTM wax burns pure, with beauty and aroma, plus, it burns longer than paraffin AND is made from a naturally renewable source.

For best results, please follow these burning suggestions: burn 4 to 6 hours to create a large wax pool, extinguish, cool, relight.

We have increased our oil content to the maximum that the wax will allow for soot free burning. Please avoid drafts, as this will cause some smoke. Because a low temperature flame is not able to completely combust the wax fuel, it is important that the wick remain still, centered, and draft free.

Swan Creek Candle Company(R) dedicates every effort to creating superior candles. Our demanding purity, cleanliness and burn standards have kept us searching for new and innovative wax products. This all natural wax out performs petroleum-based paraffin in every way. We believe American Soybean WaxTM is of exceptional quality and we know you will see the difference in our products!

Back StoryLet me first start by saying that I LOVE these candles. I know for a review that might sound like a bit much but I'm being completely honest.  I first tried these candles in November 2011. I went into my local Tractor Supply and as soon as I stepped in the entire place smelled like I had just walked into a bakery.  I was shopping for Christmas presents so of course I went to the home goods section and there they were.  Our TS had the Cast Iron, Gourmet Enamelware, and the Bird Pottery collections. I picked out a few to give as gifts and decided to pick up a few for myself.  These candles not only made my car smell great but my house as well. This is without even lighting them.  I then repurchased more this past fall.  Other members of my family love these as well. Between giving and receiving these candles as gifts as well as stocking up for myself I've gotten to smell and try a lot of them.

Product Review:

As stated before I love these candles.  They have an amazing scent throw (how evenly a candle scent is distributed throughout a room).  I find this to be true not only for the larger cast iron skillet candles that have more surface area but for the enamel mugs and plates as well.  These candles last for a long time; as the pictures and descriptions above list each candle's  burn time. The larger skillet candles have an 18 hr burn time and the smaller more compact mini mug candle has a 25+ hr burn time. I have found that sometimes the burn time exceeds the time listed.
They currently have 49 fragrances to choose from. These vary from baked goods scents to floral to crisp clean scents and more.. I personally love the "baked goods" scents. My  favorites have been Warm Cinnamon Buns, Vanilla Pound Cake, Roasted Espresso, and Lemon Icebox Cookies.
If you are concerned about indoor air pollution these candles are clean burning, lead free, soybean wax candles. They burn evenly and leave behind little residue. They don't smoke unless exposed to a lot of drafts in the room or of course when you blow them out. I also appreciate the fact that this company is an "all American" company that was founded, is located in and uses American made components.
I think these candles are decently priced. I purchased mine for prices ranging from $2.99 for the mini mugs to $12.99 for the skillet candles. Some may think that this is a little over priced, and I must admit I would love it if they were cheaper, but I don't mind paying a little more for the quality. I have purchased similar sized candles for less money and they don't hold a flame to these.  On the Swan Creek Candle Co. website their pricing is a bit different from what I paid in store for them.
This company has several other styles of candles such as filled containers, pottery candles, drizzle melts, tarts and more. They also offer oils and accessories as well as wax melters.  One of the more unique things they offer is candle refill wax. You can order it in any scent and it comes with the wax, wicks, microwavable container and instruction card. Unfortunately our Tractor Supply only carries them in the fall so I have only had the chance to try the Cast Iron and Gourmet Enameled collections, that a one of the Bird pottery ones as well.  Which means that I usually stock up on them and hope they last me until I can pick up some more.  If these aren't available in your area you can check them out online at www.swancreekcandle.com.
